A special class is held weekly for patients scheduled for joint replacement surgery. As a patient, you will be scheduled to attend a class at least 2 weeks prior to your surgery. Members of the team will be there to answer your questions. You are encouraged to bring a family member or friend to act as your coach. The outline of the class is as follows:

  • The role of your Coach/Caregiver
  • Meet some members of the Joint Replacement Team
  • Tour the Joint Replacement Center
  • Learn your breathing exercises
  • Review your preoperative exercises
  • Learn about assistive devices and joint protection
  • Discharge planning and obtaining equipment you may need
  • Completion of preoperative forms

Visitor Restrictions Update: Effective February 10, 2026

Due to community transmission of influenza and COVID-19, Northern Regional Hospital is strongly encouraging masks for all visitors.

Visitors should postpone their visit if they have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a cough, sore throat, and/or a fever of 100 degrees or higher. Visitors should be free of symptoms and fever for at least 24 hours. If visitors are actively coughing but have no other symptoms, they should be offered a mask.
