The Laboratory at Northern Regional Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day and provides a full range of services to meet the needs of the people in Surry and surrounding counties. 

Approximately 350,000 tests are performed annually.

Visitor Restrictions: Effective December 27, 2025

Due to increased community transmission of Influenza and COVID-19, Northern Regional Hospital is implementing visitor restrictions. Masks are optional for visitors; however strongly encouraged.

Visitor Restrictions Include: Visitors should postpone their visit if they have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a cough, sore throat, and/or a fever of 100 degrees or higher. Visitors should be free of symptoms and fever at least 24 hours. If visitors are actively coughing, but have no other symptoms, they are encouraged to wear a mask. Children aged 12 and under are encouraged to stay home. Thank you for your understanding.
