The Joint Commission
An independent, not-for-profit organization,The Joint Commission is the nation’s leading healthcare watchdog that accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. Quality Check is a Joint Commission consumer tool you can use to help make health care decisions. Primary Stroke Center
In 2015, Northern Regional Hospital earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.
Hospital Compare
Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in collaboration with organizations representing consumers, hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, and other Federal agencies. The information on this website has been provided primarily by hospitals that have agreed to submit quality information for Hospital Compare to make public. This tool provides you with information on how well the hospitals care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures. The LeapFrog Group
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and transparently reports hospital performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Leapfrog’s other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. Northern has received consecutive grade A safety scores from The LeapFrog Group.

This site from the North Carolina Center for Hospital Quality and Patient Safety and the NC Hospital Association reports on quality measures for hospitals in North Carolina and lets you compare hospitals within a region. Search by hospital for measures that reflect recommended treatments for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical infection prevention.
