Northern Family Medicine Welcomes Family Nurse Practitioner Nikki Frye, FNP-C

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. [August 17, 2026] – Northern Family Medicine is pleased to welcome Nikki Frye, FNP-C, who will begin seeing patients in September.

Frye earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Radford University Carilion and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Wytheville Community College.

Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Frye built more than a decade of nursing experience in a variety of healthcare settings, including critical care, clinical education, care management and quality improvement. She previously served as an Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse at Northern Regional Hospital and most recently worked as a Registered Nurse Clinical Appeals Reviewer with Molina Healthcare.

Born in Galax, Virginia, and raised in Patrick County, Frye has spent most of her life in the region she now serves.

“From an early age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare,” Frye said. “Watching my mother work her way through nursing school inspired me and strengthened the desire I had to help others.”

Frye believes in providing patient-centered care that focuses on the whole person rather than simply treating a condition.

“My approach to patient care is centered on developing holistic treatment plans that incorporate shared decision-making, respect each patient’s preferences, values and beliefs, and integrate evidence-based medicine,” she said. “I want every patient to feel heard, valued, and actively involved in their care.”

Joining Northern Family Medicine felt like a natural next step after completing clinical rotations with the practice during graduate school.

“I am excited to join the Northern Family Medicine team and have the opportunity to serve this community,” Frye said. “During the past two years of my nurse practitioner training, I had the privilege of caring for patients within this practice, and it became clear that its values and commitment to patient-centered care closely align with my own.”

Outside of work, Frye enjoys spending time with her husband, Austin, and their three children, Maddox, Landon, and Lorelai. As a family, they enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors. She is also an active member of Temple Baptist Church, where her faith plays a central role in her life.

“I believe practicing medicine is more than a profession, it’s an extension of my ministry and an opportunity to serve others with compassion and kindness,” Frye said.

“We are excited to welcome Nikki to Northern Family Medicine,” said Dr. Danal Snyder, Primary Care Physician at Northern Family Medicine. Her extensive nursing experience, familiarity with our practice, and passion for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care make her a wonderful addition to our team. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on the health and well-being of our community.”

Northern Family Medicine provides comprehensive primary care services for patients of all ages, including preventive care, annual wellness visits, chronic disease management, and treatment of acute illnesses.

Frye is accepting new patients beginning in September. To schedule an appointment, call (336) 783-8900 or visit ChooseNorthern.org/FamilyMedicine.
