Northern Hospital and United Healthcare Reach Agreement to Resume “In Network” Status for Northern’s Affiliated Physicians
(Mount Airy, NC) — Northern Hospital of Surry County officials are pleased to announce that, effective June 1, 2018, all hospital-affiliated physicians who are part of Northern Medical Group are once again considered “in network” for patients with United Healthcare (UHC) Medicare Advantage HMO or PFFS plan coverage. “We are delighted to offer a first-time ‘Hello’ or ‘Welcome back’ to patients who will be seen at our affiliated Clinic practices and who have United Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage plan health-insurance coverage,” said Brian Beasley, Vice President, Clinic Operations.
Northern Medical Group includes 30 primary-care and specialty physicians and providers based at eight practice sites or offices throughout the Mount Airy community. These clinics include: Northern Family Medicine, Northern Gastroenterology, Northern General Surgery, Northern Medical Specialists, Northern OB-GYN, Northern Orthopaedics, Northern Pain Management and Northern Urology.
This latest agreement ends a four-year hiatus between Northern Medical Group and United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plans. (Northern Hospital has consistently maintained its own contractual relationship with UHC for over twenty years)
In addition to contracting directly with United Healthcare, Northern Hospital and Northern Medical Group contract with most major insurance plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. “We are proud of our ability to successfully develop and maintain contractual relationships with most major insurers so that Northern Hospital and its affiliated Clinics may continue to provide patients throughout the region with access to high-quality, safe, and compassionate care,” said Beasley.
